Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn't permit the adverse feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he's picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
