Stu Ungar is considered by most to the very best No Limit Holdem Poker gambler ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champ was born in New York in '53 and started betting poker before becomming a teenager.

The young bettor began playing gin and at the age of ten had won his 1st gin rummy tournament, while on holiday with his parents. By the time he turned 14 the little poker genius had turned professional and dropped out of school.

In '54 Stu Ungar entered the history books by winning ten thousand dollars in a gin rummy tournament without losing a single hand, a record which still stands in New York today.

The fast speaking wiz kid has been likened, in poker terms, to athletic superstars like Joe Namath and Kobe Bryant. Stu Ungar had a genuine talent for playing poker except regardless of his successes in Hold em poker, he preferred playing gin.

Stu once said that there might a few day be a far better No Limit Texas holdem gambler than him but he couldn't see how anyone could ever be a better gin player.

In 1980 Stu Ungar was put on the world map as one of the finest Hold em Poker players in the earth when he was crowned World Poker Champion for the very first time. Amazingly it was the very first time he had played in the tournament.

The subsequent year he dismissed any suggestions that it had been luck, by effectively protecting his crown. And in '97 Stu set the record by succeeding his third World poker championship.

Except this poker master also fought with drug abuse and a year following succeeding his third title Stu Ungar past away in his hotel room. According to physicians, he had died from a heart attack which was caused by his lifestyle.

Stu had began with absolutely nothing except his ability and expertise for the casino game which made this poker great a millionaire several times over.
