I have been betting poker now for about five years, I've bet cards my entire life beginning with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various styles of Brag and general random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so gracefully called, card on head game. I used to always win, whatever casino game we were betting and even though I liked to call it skill, it was incredibly difficult to warrant considering the randomness of the games we were betting, so I was over joyed to accept I was having a prolonged run of luck.

Then came Poker, or a lot more importantly Texas hold'em Poker, made popular by a group of Texas card gamblers in the 60's and since grown into one of the biggest card phenomena ever observed. Poker is absolutely the new black, it's super awesome with a lot of of the world's leading super stars racing to have their name associated with it. Just a quick scan through the TV channels these days and you can not escape from poker, and naturally there is the fabled WSOP, the Holy Grail and Mecca all combined into one for each individual gambler.

So with all of this new found popularity, with so quite a few Television programmes devoted to poker, and magazine and book shelves filled up with high quality material written by the top minds on poker, when are men and women going to understand that this game is all about position!?

Perhaps I should not get so worked up about this, after all the additional folks who struggle with the delicate techniques and approaches required for winning regularly at Texas hold em, the much better it is for everyone else, right? I mean, if they cannot be troubled to read all of the offered details about why placement is so crucial, why need to we bother? We need to just be glad there is an additional fish at the table!

It's true, we need to not encourage inactivity with guidance and aid. Even so, I liken this to a helpful game of football. Naturally the stakes aren't so superior, but when you observe a player struggling, you guide them, provide them a number of advice, ultimately showing them a way to love, really like and appreciate the game as much as you. I am asking all house players to do a similar thing with their poker buddies who have not quite grasped the nuances of betting position. Help them to grow their respect for the casino game. Naturally, don't attempt to try this one in your community gambling den, the sharks will not appreciate you instructing their meal how to swim!
